Am I allowed to take my dog with me?
Pets are not allowed, neither on the treetop walk itself nor inside the Environmental Information Center. We do on the other hand offer comfortable wooden cages, situated in the shade and including a bowl of water. Our four-legged friends can wait there until the two-legged ones return. The boxes are free of charge and can be locked.
Where and when can I purchase a ticket?
Tickets can be bought directly on site, either at the ticket office or at the information desk inside the Environmental Information Center. The purchase of tickets is possible up until one hour before the treetop walk closes. Please check our opening hours.
Is cashless payment possible for my ticket
Besides cash we also accept EC card and credit card. Groups that book in advance have the additional option of payment on account.
Can I visit the treetop walk if the weather is
Yes, most of the time. During rainy periods, the treetop walk is open. After snowfall, the treetop walk is cleared and accessible for visitors. Only during (thunder-) storms, hail or if confronted with a dangerous icy walkway surface do we close the treetop walk to guarantee the safety of our visitors. Feel free to check with us before you come by.
Do events other than the treetop walk take
place if the weather is bad?
Yes. All our guided tours to the natural heritage site as well as the events in the NatureLab take place in all weather conditions.
Is the Naturerbe Zentrum Rügen family-friendly
and therefore interesting for kids?
Your children will discover a whole new world on our treetop walk. With a didactic background and a playful approach our learning stations invite kids of any age to touch, experiment and become inspired by nature. We offer a comic booklet – specially designed for our young visitors – that lightens up the long climb to the top of the view tower. The story of the comic booklet is about a young white-tailed eagle posing questions about nature and biodiversity, which can be answered by reading the comic panels attached to the treetop walk. We promise you that your children will have run to the top of the viewing tower in no time. The comic booklet is available for purchase at either the information shop or the cash desk.
Additionally, we offer workshops and experiments for kids in our NatureLaboratory, for example our popular amber polishing workshop. Check our program (Programmverlinkung) for this month. Prior registration is necessary.
Our Center has been certified with the quality label "Family vacation Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania - certified quality" by the Tourist Association Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Tourismusverband Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e.V.) and is therefore considered a family-friendly establishment.
By the way, did you know that our family card is also valid for grandparents and their grandchildren?
Please note: Children under the age of fourteen have to be accompanied by a grown-up when visiting the Naturerbe Zentrum Rügen.
Is there a lift available and is the treetop walk accessible by buggy or wheelchair?
The treetop walk and the viewing tower are both wheelchair friendly and, due to the maximum gradient of 6 %, accessible for wheelchairs or buggies. For visitors who are unable to use stairs, there is a lift available in the exit tower. Both exhibitions as well as the restaurant are wheelchair friendly. Wheelchairs and wheeled walkers can be borrowed against deposit (but otherwise free of charge). Prior notification required.
May I use roller skates on the treetop walk?
Unfortunately not! Due to saftey reasons, the use of roller skates, skateboards, handcarts, scooters, bikes and other similar equipement, is not allowed.

Afterwards, you are welcome to visit our exciting permanent exhibition "Experiencing and Understanding Nature" and our current temporary exhibition.
