The 1,250 m long walkway and the “Eagle’s Nest” view Tower – both wheelchair friendly – wind their way through the island’s deciduous forest. Discover the region’s unique flora and fauna at eye-level with the treetops of Naturerbe Zentrum Rügen.
On top of the “Eagle’s Nest” view tower, you will be rewarded with a
wonderful view of the landscape. At a height of 82 m above sea level, you may be lucky enough – visibility permitting – to
see the church spires of Stralsund or the pylons of the Rügen Bridge, or you might get the chance take a photograph of a native
eagle or observe one on his hunt for prey.
Various fun features along the walkway offer visitors of all ages interesting and fascinating insights into various
natural phenomena. By turning a water pump, you can experience how hard trees have to work to carry water from their roots up to the treetops. A specially adjusted telescope allows you to get an idea of how powerful an eagle’s vision really is. The “Eagle’s Nest”
even has a number of different bird nests for you to discover!
Every day at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. as well as the summer months 16.30 p.m., certified nature guides offer 1.5 hour guided tours of the walkway. If you wish to explore the treetop walk on your own, you can find lots of interesting information in the Natural Heritage App.
The treetop walk, exhibitions and the restaurant are wheelchair friendly and, with a maximum gradient of 6 %, can be easily accessed with buggies or wheelchairs. Wheeled walkers and wheelchairs can be borrowed at the main cash desk. You and your children will be delighted by our services which include interactive information points and game elements along the treetop walk, child-friendly exhibits, a free adventure playground as well as a colourful kids’ corner. A diverse vacation program and a choice of all-time favourite kids’ menus round it all off and create a family-friendly atmosphere.
